Bio
Chris Deary is Web Editor at the Global Cool Foundation, an organisation that inspires people to think differently about green lifestyles. Global Cool works with the entertainment and media industries to show people how to live a greener life without compromising on the things they enjoy most.
In previous lives he wrote about football for a contract sports publishing company, worked as an English teacher in China, took his first steps in to the world of online publishing at The Sun newspaper and spent two years immersing himself in the personal lives of women, first as Community Editor of Cosmopolitan.co.uk and Handbag.com at the National Magazine Company, and later at gurgle.com, a social networking site owned by Mothercare.
Born and raised in Bolton, Chris is a keen follower of Bolton Wanderers Football Club. In 2008 he built and launched the Bolton Wanderers blog Manny Road, which he ran in his spare time before selling the site in December 2009.
Chris’ other interests include boring his friends with his encyclopaedic knowledge of pointless football trivia, romanticising about life in the north of England (and then getting really itchy feet when he actually goes there), arguing about why rugby league is infinitely superior to rugby union, religiously preaching about why gymnastics is not a real sport and generally being sceptical about most things (seriously, fireworks… what’s the point?).
This website was built in January 2009 as a place for Chris to showcase his work and aggregate his activity from around the web. The views expressed on this site are the personal opinions of Chris and do not reflect those of his employers, his parents or his maker. Chris expects to be judged at the gates of heaven accordingly… not least for talking about himself in the third person in various places around this site.
